Assembly District Delegate Elections 2015 - Jan 10th & 11th

 Delegate_Election_Cover.jpg

This weekend is the San Francisco Assembly District Delegate Elections! Delegates represent us in the California Democratic Party and vote to endorse candidates for statewide, legislative, and congressional office. These endorsements hold huge sway in elections which is why it is critical that we elect progressive candidates who share our values and will advocate for the causes we want to see the Party support.

Two of our very own Harvey Milk Club Executive Board Members are running to be delegates and they are asking for your support.

GIVING THANKS FOR HOPE: HARVEY MILK MEMORIAL MARCH
Thursday, November 27, 2014

Each year, we gather to honor the life of two true community heroes. This year, the anniversary of the deaths of Harvey Milk and George Moscone falls on Thanksgiving and we invite you to join us – and to bring along your friends and family – as we honor these two great leaders.

This year we remember the unbelievable gift that Harvey Milk was to San Francisco and the LGBT community, and we are filled with gratitude. Grateful for a life lived authentically, grateful for the many lives Harvey touched with his words and his advocacy, grateful for the community he worked so hard to organize and lift up, grateful for the hope he inspired in us all.

Join the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, Tom Ammiano, Harry Britt, Cleve Jones, and community members for a special Thanksgiving Day Memorial March to honor the life of Harvey Milk.

Let’s come together and give thanks for the hope that Harvey gave us, as we work to continue to fight for a more just and affordable San Francisco.

Meet at 7pm at Harvey Milk Plaza for brief remarks and a candlelit walk through the Castro. If you would like to help us assemble the flower shrine to Harvey please arrive at Harvey Milk Plaza at 6pm. Bring friends, bring family and bring candles! RSVP or share the event with friends via Facebook.

Harvey Milk Club Endorsement Schedule for November Election

We are gearing up for the November election, and will soon make our official endorsements as a Club. We were proud to early endorse the Harvey Milk Anti-Speculation Tax (Prop G) at last month’s General Membership meeting by suspension of the by-laws, given the history of the measure. But there are many more ballot measures and candidates for the Club’s consideration, and possible endorsement, and we encourage members in good standing to participate in the upcoming endorsement process.

Endorsement Schedule

PAC Meeting - Tuesday, August 12th
7-9pm @ SF LGBT Center (1800 Market St)
This is the LAST qualifying meeting for members in good standing to vote in the PAC Candidate Endorsement Day. San Francisco Beautiful will be joining us, and we will be hearing from proponents and opponents of Propositions A, B, F, H, I, K and L in advance of San Francisco Beautiful’s endorsement vote. Beth Spotswood, Melissa Griffin, and Pollo del Mar will be moderating the discussion. RSVP or share the Facebook event here

PAC Candidate Endorsement Day - Saturday, August 16th
9:30am - 4:30pm @ Ceremonial Room, SF LGBT Center (1800 Market St)
Qualifying members who have attended at least ONE previous PAC meeting (June, July or August) and who stay for at least two hours of the interviews will be eligible to vote. Candidate questionnaires and a schedule for the day will be available for download on milkclub.org prior to Saturday’s endorsement day. Some print copies will be available at the meeting. Coffee and refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Democratic County Central Committee. The room opens at 9, and interviews begin at 9:30, so please arrive early.

General Membership Meeting - Tuesday, August 19th
**Official Endorsement Meeting**
7-9pm @ the Women’s Building (3543 18th Street)
Members in good standing and new members (of at least 3 months) will be eligible to vote on the Club’s official endorsements at this meeting.

For questions about the endorsement process, please contact [email protected]. We hope to see you at one or more of our upcoming endorsement meetings!
