May PAC Meeting: A Discussion on Privacy

May PAC Meeting: A Discussion on Privacy | Tuesday, May 9, 2023 | MilkSF & Virtual Hybrid Meeting
This is a hybrid meeting. Vaccination and post-event self-reporting are encouraged for all in-person attendees. If you are unvaccinated, have any symptoms of Covid-19, or are uncomfortable meeting in person, we invite you to join us at bit.ly/milkpac. Remote attendees are able to speak and vote on items just as in-person attendees can.

Tonight, join the Political Action Committee (PAC) of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club for our monthly PAC Meeting. This will be a hybrid meeting, at Milk-SF Cafe (302 Valencia) and bit.ly/milkpac.

At this meeting, the PAC will discuss privacy justice, with a focus on the face recognition-related AB 642. Per a motion from the April General Membership Meeting, this is a continuation of the discussion about AB 642 at that meeting. We will be joined by the following:

  • Matt Cagle, Senior Staff Attorney, ACLU
  • Brady Hirsch, Communications Strategist, ACLU
  • Mark Chekal, District Director, Office of Asm. Phil Ting
  • Tania Dikho, Legislative Director, Office of Asm. Phil Ting

Beyond AB 642, we will discuss additional aspects of privacy justice, including data protection, impact on vulnerable communities, transparency/accountability, public education, and other forms of identification. We will use the discussion to inform a Privacy Justice platform plank brainstorming discussion. If you have ideas for the plank you would like to share beforehand, you are invited to do so on this document: tinyurl.com/milkprivacy. Please note that changes to this document are tracked and monitored.

After our privacy justice discussion, we will hear an update about Laguna Honda Hospital from Teresa Palmer, M.D., Geriatrics / Family Medicine, and Board Member, San Francisco Gray Panthers. We will also discuss the latest Justice for the Homeless Plank draft.

Don't miss it!
