There will be a short speaking program from legacy club members and community leaders. Then we will also open the mic for folks who would like to say a few words, then have a short candlelit walk to the spot of Harvey’s camera shop, now the HRC store. Hump Days With Harvey: Cocktails For a Cause
When: Wednesday, October 25 at 6 PM - 9 PM Where: Virgil's Sea Room at 3152 Mission Street
The Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club will be hosting a special Hump Days with Harvey event this month with Virgil's Cocktails For a Cause. We are excited to team up with one of our favorite watering holes in SF to raise money for UndocuFund.
UndocuFund was launched by a coalition of immigrant service providers and advocates to bring assistance to undocumented residents and workers who were displaced and otherwise affected by the fires in Northern California. 100% of what we raise and subsequently donate to UndocuFund will go to the fire victims to provide assistance paying for basic needs, rent, groceries, etc.
Virgil's will be creating a specialty cocktail for our Happy Hour and donating a portion of those sales. We will also be collecting a sliding scale donation at the door but no one turned away for lack of funds.
Join us for an early evening of community gathering, cocktails and fundraising in the beautiful Mission district. Please RSVP on Facebook here.

Celebrate Harvey Milk's 87th Birthday!
"The Times Of Harvey Milk" - Two Special Screenings To Celebrate Harvey's 87th Birthday!
WHEN: May 22nd, 2017
Day Reception & Screening: 12:00pm
Evening VIP Reception & Screening: 6:00pm
WHERE: The Castro Theatre
<<Get your tickets here>>
Celebrate Harvey Milk’s 87th birthday this year at the Castro Theatre for two special screenings of the Oscar-winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk. Presented by the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club, this anniversary event will include a daytime program, free for students and seniors, as well as an evening VIP reception and screening.
Premiering at the Castro Theatre in 1984, The Times of Harvey Milk chronicles the political career of Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first openly gay elected official, and his rise from a neighborhood activist to a symbol of gay political achievement, through to his assassination in November 1978. Receiving international acclaim, awards and selection into the National Film Registry in Library of Congress, the documentary later became inspiration for Gus Van Sant’s 2008 Oscar-winning biopic, Milk.
“At first, Harvey Bernard Milk showed few signs he would make history,” narrates Harvey Fierstein in the opening of The Times of Harvey Milk. Eighty-five years later, it’s hard to conceive what LGBTQ history much less life in San Francisco would be without him. What better way to honor one of our movement’s most galvanizing figures than to spend an evening in the heart of the Castro remembering his legacy with living legends of the gay rights movement.
Join us for this special evening commemorating the Mayor of Castro Street. CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS!
