
San Francisco, CA – January 26, 2010 – Tonight, The Harvey Milk Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Democratic Club elected its new Executive Board for 2010. “It's an exciting mix of youthful energy and deep community wisdom that will serve the club exceptionally well in this critical year,” said Co-President Denise D'Anne, a veteran queer political activist. “I'm honored to serve,” stated Co-President David Waggoner. “The Milk Club is of such huge significance to the LGBT community and the issues we champion, and 2010 promises to be one of the most exciting and important years ever in the club's storied history.” This is the first time in the Milk Club's 34 years that the membership has elected Co-Presidents to lead the Club.
Rafael Mandelman, the outgoing President, is a candidate for San Francisco Supervisor in District 8, which includes The Castro, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Diamond Heights, Duboce Triangle, and The Valencia Corridor. Previous President Deborah Walker is a Supervisorial candidate in District 6.
Rounding out the Executive Board are: Vice President of Political Affairs, Linnette Peralta Haynes; Vice President of Internal Affairs, Douglas Welch; Vice President of External Affairs, Barbara Lopez; Treasurer, Michael Lee; Recorder, Jenette Lanning; Correspondent, Scott Trammell Moore; Outreach Coordinators, Kimberly Alvarenga and Kirk Piamonte; E-Board Political, Carol Stuart; E-Board Internal, Kirby Ramstad; Events & Fundraising, Nathan Allbee; E-Board Organizing, Laura Hahn.
Five (5) additional Executive Board spots will be appointed by the Co-Presidents and voted on for ratification by the General Membership at the next regular meeting on February 23rd, 2010, also at The Women's Building, 18th and Valencia, San Francisco.
